You're a Story Superstar! 🌟
Have you ever played with your favorite toys, like a brave knight or a magical unicorn? Of course you have! Thinking about stories is just like playing. The toy you choose is the main character. The place where they have their adventure—like your playroom or the backyard—is the setting. And all the amazing things that happen are the story's events!
When we read a book, we become story detectives. Our job is to look for clues to understand everything that’s happening.
Your Detective Toolkit!
Every time you read, ask these super questions:
- WHO is the story about? (The Character)
- WHERE does it happen? (The Setting)
- WHAT happens first, next, and last? (The Events)
Great detectives also pay attention to feelings! How did the little bunny feel when he couldn't find his carrot? The pictures might show tears in his eyes. He felt sad. What did he do? He hopped around the garden to look for it. See? You're already finding clues!
Now for the most exciting part: using your big imagination!
Based on the clues, what do you think might happen next? Making a guess is called a prediction! And guess what? You can even be the author. If you could rewrite the end of the story, how would you change it? Maybe the bunny finds THREE carrots and shares them with his friends! Why? Because sharing is a kind thing to do.
You are a fantastic thinker and storyteller. Keep using your detective skills every time you open a book!
